This year we are celebrating a very special anniversary. Welcome to the 100 Years Club, Koelnmesse GmbH. 🎖 Let's honor this milestone with a few exciting facts: it was founded in the 1920s on the initiative of the Lord Mayor of Cologne, Konrad Adenauer. One of the countless visitors in the following years was no other than Prince Charles. After being destroyed during the Second World War, the entire 52,000 square meter area was rebuilt by 1950. Did you know that the red brick cladding of the exhibition halls is a listed building? Those responsible also recognized the trend towards specialization in the trade fair industry at an early stage, which is why the focus was on specialized fairs such as Anuga. With 284,000 square meters of hall space and 100,000 square meters of outdoor space, the exhibition halls in Cologne are the fifth largest exhibition center in the world and the place to be for countless attractive industries – such as iron, sweets, furniture games and of course, food and beverages. 🍽🥤 Over the past 100 years, Koelnmesse has managed to achieve a leading role worldwide despite tough competition.
